the first steps - how tread on trafficking began

It was a cold winter evening when Marija was at the gym with her friend and business colleague, Josh. They were maintaining a reasonable pace on the treadmill, enough to keep their conversation going. As they talked, the subject of Destiny Rescue and their incredible work came up.

They discussed how donations for such vital work had become harder to secure, especially with the financial pressures people were facing due to the rising cost of living. This led them to brainstorm ways for everyone to show solidarity, regardless of their financial situation.

Then, it happened—a lightbulb moment! Marija wondered, what if someone dedicated a day, or even just an hour, to getting on a treadmill or taking to a local outdoor path to walk, run, or even cartwheel as a way of saying, “No more!” to child trafficking? And what if their family, friends, colleagues, and acquaintances rallied behind their efforts by sponsoring them?

And so, Tread on Trafficking was born.

At its inaugural event last year, 35 people raised over $38,000 for Destiny Rescue - a response that was overwhelming and far beyond what Marija and Josh had envisioned. Inspired by this incredible success, they are determined to make an even greater impact this year, rallying more people to join the movement and empowering them to help change the lives of vulnerable children.
